Henk Helmantel
Henk Helmantel is an important Dutch realistic painter. In general they call him a fine arts painter. He is famous for his still-life paintings and also for his paintings of churches. In his still life paintings he uses daily object, object one can find in the kichen or all kinds of fruit. The peach and prune are fruikts he likes to paint and is well known for. He also told in an interview that Rembrandt had an important influence on his work. His work is known internationally.
Henk Helmantel is een belangrijk Nederlands realist, een fijnschilder. Zijn werk behoort tot de Noordelijke realisten. Hij is bekend vanwege zijn stilleven schilderijen maar ook zijn schilderijen van kerken zijn bekend. Hij gebruikt alledaagse objecten in zijn stillevens zoals keukenstukken en fruit. Perziken en pruimen komen vaak voor op zijn schilderijen, In een interview heeft hij eens gezegd dat Rembrandt veel invloed heeft gehad op zijn werk. Zijn werk is internationaal bekend.

Matthijs Röling
When he was studying he had more of a impressionistic style but While a student, he had a more impressionistic style but gradually he started to paint realistically. He makes detailed work with small brush gently but he did also makes great murals toghether with Wout Muller I will describe hereafter. He paints portraits and nudes but also gardens.
Toen hij nog studeerde had hij nog een wat meer impressionistische stijl maar gaandeweg is hij realistisch gaan schilderen. Hij maakt gedetailleerd werk met kleine penseeltjes maar hij maakte ook grote wandschilderingen samen met Wout Muller die ik hierna zal beschrijven. Hij schildert portretten, naakten maar bijvoorbeeld ook tuinen.

Wout Muller
I just love this painting, It seems that someone has ever called him a festive painter. This is really treu for this work. Erotic woman were a subject in his paintings that he liked to use.
Ik vind dit een geweldig schilderij. Het schijnt dat iemand hem ooit een feestelijke schilder heeft genoemd. Dat gaat wat mij betreft zeker voor dit schilderij op. Erotiek was een onderwerp in zijn schilderijen dat hij vaak gebruikte.

Sam Drukker
Sam Drukker was an artist of the year 2011, he should certainly not be missed. He has a unique style that is easily recognizable. He usually makes paintings of people or commision portraits.
Sam Drukker was kunstenaar van het jaar 2011, hij mag hier zeker niet ontbreken. Hij heeft een geheel eigen stijl die duidelijk herkenbaar is. Hij maakt veelal schilderijen van mensen en portretten in opdracht.

Rob Mohlmann
While I wrote the piece about Jopie Huisman, I was immediately reminded of Rob Mohlmann, also a realistic painter with its own museum in the North. He himself is still life painter, but in his museum, of course also in the north of the country, he has an annual exhibition called 'contemporary realists. If ever you should have the change you should visit it. Written on the first page of his website: representational art.
Terwijl ik over Jopie schreef werd ik meteen herinnerd aan Rob Mohlmann, ook een realisch kunstschilder met een eigen museum in het Noorden. Zelf is hij stillevenschilder maar in zijn museum, uiteraard ook in het Noorden des lands, heeft hij jaarlijks een tentoonstelling genoemd 'hedendaagse realisten'. Erg de moeite waard om te bezoeken. Zijn website zegt: kunst die wat voorstelt.....

Pieter Pander
It is said that Pieter Pander has a special talent for drawing. I know his work from the beautiful portraits but also his paintings of animals that he makes. The people in his portraits look very natural. The animals sometimes seem to have a translucent skin.
Van Pieter Pander wordt gezegd dat hij een bijzonder getalenteerd tekentalent heeft. Ik ken zijn werk van de prachtige portretten maar ook van de schilderijen van dieren die hij maakt. De geportretteerden zien er erg natuurlijk uit op zijn schilderijen. De dieren lijken soms wel een doorschijnende huid te hebben.

Albert Greving
With Albert Greving we are still at the Northern realists. He's still life painter, but he has a unique style in objects he uses for his paintings. He paints dresses and bras but also a glass jar filled with sweet peppers or vegetables wrapped in plastic. His work is very recognizable.
Met Albert Greving zijn we nog steeds bij de Noordelijke realisten. Hij is stillevenschilder, maar hij heeft een geheel eigen stijl gevonden voor wat objecten betreft. Hij schildert jurkjes en bh's maar ook een glazen pot gevuld met paprika's of groenten in plastic verpakt. Zijn werk is erg herkenbaar.

Gerrie Wachtmeester
Gerrie Sergeant is the painter of lonely houses and buildings in peaceful surroundings. The loneliness of these houses has a somewhat alienating effect. He makes also beautiful landscapes, unique in its kind.
Gerrie Wachtmeester is de schilder van eenzame huizen en gebouwen in rustige landschappen. De eenzaamheid van deze huizen heeft een enigzins bevreemdend effect. Hij schildert ook schitterende landschappen.

Herman Tulp makes colorful still lifes, but also beautiful paintings of beautiful women. He uses old materials and toys in his still life paintings. It is the nudes paintings that I like most. Very quiet in terms of composition and color.
Herman Tulp schildert kleurrijke stillevens maar ook prachtige schilderijen van vrouwelijk schoon. Hij gebrukt veelal oude materialen en speelgoed in zijn stilleven schilderijen. Het zijn de naaktschilderijen die ik het mooiste van hem vind. Heel natuurgetrouw in heel rustig qua compositie en kleurgebruik.

Arnaut van Albada
Arnaut van Albeda is a still life painter. He often uses only one object in his still lifes and places that at the center of his composition. He does not fully work out this object into detail. He starts his painting with a monochrome underpainting that still shows a bit in the final painting.
Arnaut van Albeda is stillevenschilder. Hij gebruikt vaak maar 1 object in zijn stillevens en plaatst dit als middelpunt van zijn compositie. Het bijzondere is dat hij het object ook niet geheel tot in detail uitwerkt. Hij werkt met een monochrome onderschildering die nog enigzins doorschemert in het uiteindelijke schilderij.

Chris Herenius
The work of Chris Herenius is timeless. He paints dead plants, birds and insects. A seemingly simple little insect or plant, he manages to give his paintings a special atmosphere.
Het werk van Chris Herenius is tijdloos. Hij schildert dode planten, vogeltjes en insecten. Een schijnbaar eenvoudig insectje of verdord plantje, hij weet een bijzondere atmosfeer te geven aan zijn schilderijen.

Piet Sebens
A painter whose work I particularly admire is the work of Piet Sebens, his use of color is always beautiful, fresh. The entire painting is composed of innumerable tiny brushstrokes. He paints mainly still lives and the occasional portrait.
Een schilder wiens werk ik uitermate bewonder is het werk van Piet Sebens, zijn kleurgebruik is altijd mooi, fris. Het hele schilderij bestaat uit ontelbare kleine penseelstreekjes. Hij schildert voornamelijk stilllevens en af en toe een portret.

Elliot Allsop
Elliot Allsop is a draftsman. It is wonderful how he knows to display his still lifes and nudes in graphite. The gradient from white to black in such a small area is very pretty. I like his earlier work very muchthe series of white bowls.
Elliot Allsop is tekenaar. Het is schitterend hoe hij zijn stillevens of naakten met grafiet weet weer te geven. Het verloop van wit naar zwart op zo'n klein oppervlak is heel knap gedaan. Ik hou zelf van zijn wat oudere werk, de series witte kommen.
